As reported by Public Information Officer Deputy Gordon R. Downing to KGUN 9, the incident unfolded at the intersection of East River Road and North Via Entrada.
According to Deputy Downing, the SUV was traveling westbound along River Road when it collided with the bicyclist. The bicyclist was crossing through the westbound lanes, heading north toward Via Entrada at the time.
Regrettably, the bicyclist has been identified as 74-year-old Christopher Myers, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Deputy Downing has further confirmed that the driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the authorities.
