A devastating motorcycle crash on Highway 79 claimed the life of 66-year-old Edward D. Trapp Sr. and severely injured his passenger, Joyce Yarber. The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident, which occurred last Friday and has deeply affected the local community.
Edward Trapp Motorcycle Accident
A tragic accident occurred on Highway 79, just north of County Road X, claiming the life of a 66-year-old motorcyclist and severely injuring his passenger. The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the incident at 11:34 a.m. last Friday and promptly arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation.
Edward D. Trapp Sr., a resident of North Bend, was piloting his Harley Davidson southward on the highway when he faced a challenging curve. As he attempted to decelerate, he lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to veer off into the east ditch. Upon entering the ditch, the bike collided with a small tree after traveling approximately 35 feet, catapulting both Trapp and his passenger, Joyce Yarber, off the motorcycle and into the ditch.
On-site emergency responders from Morse Bluff Fire, North Bend Fire and Rescue, and Prague Fire and Rescue declared Edward Trapp deceased at the scene. Joyce Yarber received initial medical attention from North Bend EMS and was later airlifted to Omaha for further medical evaluation, after initially being taken to Fremont Methodist Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
